In January 2025, the Los Angeles Fires impacted entire communities, leaving families displaced and neighborhoods forever altered. Many homes, once filled with laughter and nightly bedtime stories, were lost in the devastation. Along with schools, libraries, and youth centers, children lost the comforting spaces where stories once offered them peace, joy, adventure, and a sense of belonging.

MAGIC CABIN CARES was created to share the magic of books despite the devastation. Our mission is to collect, organize, and distribute new or gently used children’s books to families in need. While our initial efforts are focused on those impacted by the fires, our long-term goal is to support children and families facing crises—whether through natural disasters, displacement, or other hardships.

Books offer an opportunity to escape, heal, and continue learning, even in challenging times. Through partnerships with shelters, schools, and community organizations, we ensure that every book we distribute reaches those who need it most, bringing hope, comfort, and a sense of normalcy during uncertain times.

HOW you can help

Accepting new and gently used children’s books, canvas tote bags and gift cards.

MAGIC CABIN CARES is committed to ensuring that children's books reach those who need them most. Whether you’re an individual or an organization, here are several ways you can get involved in this mission:

1. Donate

We are currently accepting new and gently used children's books, canvas tote bags, and gift cards. Your donations will directly support children impacted by the Los Angeles Fires, providing them with books that bring hope, comfort, and joy.

Seeking donation locations where we can sort and organize books, as well as places for weekend pick-ups. If you have space to offer or would like to host a collection point, please contact us to discuss how you can help.

2. Host a Donation Drive or Party

Looking for a fun and meaningful way to give back? Host a donation event to support Magic Cabin Cares’ Cabin Comfort Totes initiative!

Here’s how it works:
Guests bring a new or gently used children’s book to donate.
Everyone tie-dyes tote bags in our classic indigo…a signature touch for our Cabin Comfort Totes.

Once your event is over, you can:
Ship the filled totes back to us for distribution.
If you're local to SoCal, we can arrange a pickup!

Whether it’s a weekend gathering, a community event, or a small get-together with friends, every book and tote bag makes a difference!

3. CALLING ALL SO-CAL Donation Centers

After visiting a local donation center, we saw firsthand how overwhelming it can be to sort and direct donations. We are ready to manage incoming children’s book donations and support overfilled centers to ensure books don’t end up in landfills.

If your donation center needs sorting assistance or help with picking up overloaded donations, please contact us. Together, we can make sure these valuable books reach the children who need them most.

4. Volunteer

Join our volunteer list! As volunteer opportunities arise, we’ll reach out with ways you can help…whether it’s sorting and organizing books, assisting with donation events, or supporting our Cabin Comfort Totes initiative.
